Sourdough Artisan Bread

For the base of this recipe obviously you’ll need to bake a sourdough loaf of bread. Remember, the key to any good loaf of sourdough bread is in the starter and how healthy and strong it is. Follow my step-by-step process on how to create a artisan sourdough loaf to continue on with creating this delicious garlic cheese stuffed bread.

Easy Artisan Sourdough Bread recipe can be found here.

Now, a good time to make this is when you have made an extra loaf or have a spare loaf in the freezer. Yes! you can freeze a sourdough loaf and it is one of my favorite things to do. So easy and quick to have a beautiful, delicious and better for you loaf on hand to share with family and friends.

Creating the Garlic Cheese Stuffed Sourdough Loaf

To create this garlic cheese stuff sourdough loaf, you’ll need to have your loaf out and ready to cut. Really you can do this any way you want but I have found in order to get the cheese, butter, and garlic dispersed evenly I find cutting in small squares to be the easiest for people to just pull apart.

Cut the sourdough loaf diagonally across and the opposite way until you are left with a loaf of bread that looks similar to the picture below. This part doesn’t have to be perfect by any means. When you are cutting try to cut down to the bottom of the loaf without actually cutting the bottom apart. If you don’t cut down low enough, you’ll be left with a hunk of bread and probably some of the best parts not eaten.

Next, you want to loosen the bread and separate the small cut pieces carefully without pulling the bread apart. You can tell the difference between the two pictures. The one below shows the bread loosened.

Stuffing the Sourdough Bread

Now, this is the fun part and if you have kids, they may want to help out doing this. Start melting a half stick of butter and mince some fresh garlic. When the butter is melted, add in the fresh garlic and mix. Set that aside. Choose your cheese, I chose cheddar cheese that was pre shredded. If you have the option to grant your own that is good too.

Start stuffing the loaf with the cheese, separating each and every cut into the sourdough loaf of bread. You want to make sure you are stuffing it down as far as you cut it to ensure the even dispersion of the cheese. Just be careful not to tear the bread apart if it’s fragile.

Now, that you have the bread stuffed with cheese, it’s time to pour the butter and garlic over the loaf. Try separating the bread just enough to or the butter into the crevasses of the bread. If you see that you need more butter and garlic add in another 1/2 stick of butter and more minced garlic and repeat the process.

When the oven is pre-heated to 350 degrees F, add it to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted, and the bread is warmed through. Remember you aren’t baking the bread so this process won’t take long and can be don’t a few minutes before serving.

Serve and enjoy your Garlic Cheese Stuffed Sourdough Loaf 🙂
