Homemade Loaf of Bread

Easy homemade loaf bread with short proofing times. This is a great loaf to make for your family to have throughout the week.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ Tbsp dry active yeast
  • 3 cups warm water
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • cup honey
  • 6-7 cups all-purpose flour fresh milled or unbleached
  • 4 Tbsp butter melted
  • 1 Tbsp salt

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl or stand mixer
  • Measuring Cups
  • measuring spoons

Method
 

  1. Add to your mixing bowl the warm water, yeast and sugar. Sitr well until combined. Make sure a foam appears on top after a few minutes. If you don't see foam in about five minutes DO NOT proceed.
  2. Add your honey, melted butter and salt. Stir until combined.
  3. Add flour one cup at a time and mix in between.
  4. Add in more flour if the dough is sticky. You want to be able to poke the dough and it not stick to our finger.
  5. Knead the dough in mixer or by hand for 2-3 min.
  6. After kneading, place a clean tea towel over the bowl and let the dough rise. This should take about 45 min. The dough will double in size.
  7. When the dough has doubled in size. Lay dough onto a floured countertop and divide into three separate loaves.
  8. Place into a greased loaf pan and cover with tea towel again for second rise. This will take about 1 hour. The loaves will double in size.
  9. Prep oven at 350o degrees for about 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool on a cooling rack. Slice and enjoy!
